Germany - Bielefeld to Cologne

There have been Christian churches on the site of the Cologne Cathedral since the 4th century. The relics of the Three Wise Men were brought to Cologne in 1164 and it was decided a more impressive Cathedral was required to house them. Work began on the present cathedral in the 1200s.
